Senate Speaker Pro Tempore
Joey is a freshman from Wappinger, New York, and he is majoring in Political Science. Joey is a Commuter Senator in SGA, meaning he represents the needs and concerns specific to commuter students. Joey hopes to encourage trips and activities in different attractions in the Hudson Valley for all Marist Students. This has sparked the renewal of the Hudson River Valley Attractions Committee.
Joey is a community activist and historian for the Town of Wappinger. Born and raised in Southern Dutchess County, starting at age 12 in 2012, he was appointed to the Office of the Town of Wappinger Historian, making him the youngest person to be appointed to a post within a municipal historian’s office in New York. He started his public career as a docent for the Van Wyck Homestead in Fishkill, New York and proceeded to get involved with other historical groups in Dutchess County. Joey currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Wappinger Historical Society. In 2017, he was appointed to Acting Historian for the Town of Fishkill.
In 2014, Joey was appointed by the Board of Directors of the Sports Museum of Dutchess County to fill the vacant position of Museum Curator. He is also the founder and Executive Director of the Friends of Carnwath Farms Historic Site & Park Incorporated, a community based organization working with the Town of Wappinger to promote and preserve the town owned Carnwath Farms Park. Finally, Joey is involved in events and programming through the Town of Wappinger Recreation Committee, and he was recently elected to the Board of Trutees for the Grinnell Public Library District.
In 2016, Joey was the recipient of the Dutchess County Historical Society's Franklin Delano Roosevelt Award. He has also been recognized by the Wappingers Falls Rotary Club for his passion for history and bettering the Wappinger Community.
