Eric James Seltzer
Speaker of the Senate
Eric is a senior studying Political Science, History, and Pre-Law at Marist. A native Long-Islander, he was born and raised in Wantagh, New York. Eric is the Speaker of the Senate, which means he is responsible for overseeing the Senate and chairing SGA meetings.
During his first year within the organization, Eric was responsible for creating his pilot project, the Red Fox Den, which provided students with alternative programming on weekend nights. He also spearheaded Mobile Office Hours, which allow Senators to travel to different areas on campus to more effectively field concerns and receive feedback from target student groups. Currently, Eric is taking part in a discussion to reform the Priority Point system to include a spirit point for athletic event attendance, and he is pushing for commuter student lockers on campus. Additionally, Eric has begun to work on the Student Center Revitalization Initiative, which is aimed at creating a more student-friendly and engaging environment for student-run programming and activities.
Outside of SGA, Eric is a Resident Assistant in Champagnat Hall, an Honors Program Mentor, and a member of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society, the Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society, the National Society of Leadership & Success, and the Dean’s Circle.
In the coming year, Eric wishes to attend law school with a focus on business contracts under the Uniform Commercial Code. He would also like to run for public office one day.
