Vice President of Inclusion
Lauren is a senior from Los Angeles, California, and she is majoring in Communications with a minor in Political Science. Lauren is the Vice President of Inclusion, which means she works with a wide variety of constituents at Marist to assess needs that support diversity and inclusivity issues on campus. She is responsible for developing unique programming and communication strategies to promote diversity and assess the outcomes of those initiatives.
Lauren and her board have been meeting regularly with faculty and administration to discover ways to change up existing events. She seeks to better understand the needs of the students on campus and work on pre-existing initiatives directed at student life and the campus climate. Finally, Lauren wants to help the Center for Multicultural Affairs with their programs and the overall outreach of the center. At Marist, Lauren has previously served as the Vice President of the Black Student Union and SGA’s Director of Multicultural Relations.
Lauren’s personal goals for the year are to hear people, not just listen to them. She feels like often times we get so wrapped up in our own wants that we don’t actually make the connections we need when speaking with others. Overall, she wants people to understand that diversity and inclusivity is as simple as the Golden Rule: "Treat others how you want to be treated."
Fun fact: Lauren is a twin!
